Foon Hay is going on a road trip to the California Coast
for a two-day outing at two really nice courses. You can
play one day or two, your choice. Prizes awarded each
day. Each day counts towards the 3-round minimum for the
year.
If playing two days, it is recommended that you stay
over at a hotel in or near Monterey, and that you make
reservations in advance.
We are lining up a nice restaurant for dinner the
first night in Monterey. Reasonable price, good food,
convenient location. Details will go out via the email
group.
Phyllis Gee is lining up activities for non-golfing
spouses. Her plans will be announced in plenty of time
to join in. We encourage everyone to get involved in
this year's Roadtrip. Be sure to let us know if
non-golfers will be joining us.

Description:
Pacific Grove:
Originally designed by
Chandler Egan in 1932, the first nine holes take
you through the forested areas of Pacific Grove.
Egan's nine takes you through an inland terrain
and reflects much of the charm of an English
rural course done in the old style.
The back nine was
designed by Jack Neville, the original designer
of the Pebble Beach Links. It opened in 1960,
and is laid out in true links design over
dunesland that approaches the sea.
Over looking the course
is the Point Pinos Lighthouse. Built in 1855, it
is the longest continuously operating lighthouse
in California. It is a historical sentinel and
picturesque landmark of the golf course.
A scenic tour of the
dramatic coastline provides views of Lover's
Point, Point Pinos, Crespi Pond and the natural
dunesland at Asilomar. You will be enchanted by
the abundance of natural wonders such as the
plentiful Pacific Blacktail Deer, seals, sea
lions, sea otters, pelicans and gulls.
Seascape:
Seascape Golf Club, located in the city of
Aptos, offers guests a spectacular day of golf and
relaxation on its 6,034-yard 18-hole golf course, and
continues to be one of Northern California’s most
distinguished courses.
Originally, Rio Del Mar Country Club, Seascape Golf
Club is a classic 18-hole layout perched on the
coast highlands of the Monterey Peninsula. Opened in
1926, the course was actually shut down during World
War II when it served as a "victory garden" to help
grow crops for the nation's war effort. After the
war, it came back with its new name, but old charm.
The golf course is just a half mile from the Pacific
Ocean, but it's largely protected by Monterey Pines
and Eucalyptus trees that surround it. Seascape Golf
Club features well-maintained fairways,
strategically placed bunkers, and small tricky
greens.
