Day 5:

The day for the Projectile Challenge finally arrived. Armed with their projectile launchers and any other tools they could accumulate, the participants prepared to launch their ball bearing, planning to have it hit inside a film canister placed 30 cm above the table, on the way down. Maybe the challenge was too stiff, or maybe the equipment is a bit off, but only two groups managed to earn raffle tickets by hitting their target. Better luck to their students next school year!

During the morning, the participants presented their demonstrations. These ranged from sharing Physics Practicums to a wide range of oldies but goodies to torturing gold fish with intensive electric fields. (You had to be there!) The range and quality of this first round of demonstrations was great.

Finally, the instructors conducted 13 demonstrations in a Physics Quiz mode. By predicting the result of the demonstrations, participants earned raffle tickets. The tickets were then put into a hat and the winners that were drawn received prizes like Vernier mouse pads, PASCO posters and inertial balances. A good time was had by all.
